Iowa will be “grandfathering” in applicants who hold an active Resident or Designated
Home State adjusters license via two options during 3 months from July 1st through
October 1st.
• Iowa will be waiving the application fee during this timeframe.
• Applicants will be allowed to work Iowa claims before license issuance if the
required application steps below are completed during the allotted timeframe.
• A $50,000 Surety Bond is required.
Applicants holding an active resident or designated home state adjuster license
before January 1, 2025, will complete the MODIFIED LICENSING PROCESS:
1. Complete the Modified Licensing Process Attestation Form:
a. Open the Modified Licensing Process Form
b. Fill out all applicant information lines at the top
c. Check the “Independent Adjuster” box
d. Complete the ATTESTATION TO INDEPENDENT ADJUSTER OR STAFF ADJUSTER
EXPERIENCE section
e. Check the “Yes” box at the bottom and provide the state where a prior criminal history check was completed for you via fingerprinting
f. Check the box stating you read and understood Iowa law and personally
completed your application
g. Sign and date form at the bottom
h. Email your completed Modified Licensing Process Form to the Iowa Insurance
Division at producer.licensing@iid.iowa.gov
2. Immediately apply for an Iowa independent adjuster license with no application fee
via this link Individual Independent Adjuster License Application (adjuster
application steps provided below).
3. Once the application is submitted, you will receive an email communication from Iowa requesting any additional items required for licensure:
a. They will provide you with the Iowa Examination Exemption form with
instructions. Note: This form looks very similar to the Modified Licensing Process
Form you’ve already submitted. Both forms must be completed and submitted.
b. Provide further documents, fingerprints, etc., only if directed by the Iowa Insurance Division.
Applicants holding an active resident or designated home state adjuster
license, but it was not active until after January 1, 2025, will complete the WAIVER
REQUEST OF REQUIRED EXPERIENCE PROCESS:
1. Complete the Waiver Request of Required Experience Process:
a. Open the Waiver Request of Required Experience Form
b. Fill out all applicant information lines at the top
c. Check the “Independent Adjuster” box
d. Complete all sections of the form detailing your adjuster-specific work history
e. Check the “Yes” box at the bottom and provide the state where a prior criminal
history check was completed for you via fingerprinting
f. Check the box stating you read and understood Iowa law and personally
completed your application
g. Sign and date form at the bottom
h. Email your completed Waiver Request of Required Experience Form to the Iowa
Insurance Division at producer.licensing@iid.iowa.gov
2. Immediately apply for an Iowa independent adjuster license with no application fee
via this link, Individual Independent Adjuster License Application (adjuster
application steps provided below).
3. Respond promptly to the email communication you will receive from Iowa upon
application requesting additional items required for licensure:
a. They will provide you with the Iowa Examination Exemption form with instructions.
Note: This form looks very similar to the Modified Licensing Process Form you’ve
already submitted. Both forms must be completed and submitted.
b. Provide further documents, fingerprint, etc. only if directed by Iowa
